i like the look of ps 3 in your photo. is she a mansion girl, prepago, or from mde?
gents,
i have several slr cameras but my preference when traveling is a nikon d50 with a standard 18-55mm lens kit and also a fixed 50 mm lens for that "sharp image w/blury background" effect.
one of the most important things to master is lighting! i use a pivoting speed light (sb28) attached to the camera's hot shoe to "bounce" the light as oppose to direct light flash if i were using the built in pop up flash. direct flash causes harsh reflections and dark shadows behind the subject. back home i have the umbrellas and reflectors and backgrounds but never lug them along on vacation.
a digital slr is the way to go for professional looking shots, especially with a nice paisa in front of the camera. however, no need to get ridiculous and bring an slr that's in the thousands of dollars range. i have seen gents do just that although i could see from their use of the camera and photo results that they don't really spend time learning how to effectively use the camera's multi functions to the point of which they just turn it on auto and end up with a point and shoot.
composition is going on in my mind as i look through the lens of the camera. am i tilted? is there debri in the background? is there a hair in the girls face? will she look better with or without a smile? etc. robert was nice enough to go along with my suggestion of an outdoor makeshift studio. we cleared an area, brought out some furniture. added the plants for a nature touch. also suspended a white sheet above the shoot area to allow the flash to "bounce" off of.
one thing is it is real work to get that special shot. i take several pictures in order to try to pinpoint one that brings the best out of my subject.
as far as photo shopping. no, i don't really but what i do, if needed, is crop, lighten/darken highlight etc. but as far as the actual girls, pretty much what you see is what you can get. none of them are professional models. some of the girls have a knack for posing, many do not.

i respect most everyone's opinion, even if i disagree, so i mean no disrepect when i say that i love the food in la mayorista. i would actually travel there from say el castillo or parque lleras to eat. especially breakfast. no matter how well you know the language, as a foreigner it's difficult to get what you thought you ordered for breakfast. but i managed to get sort of a yucca soup, as an appetizer. i love yucca! and then on from there with the normal bandeja paisa. the restaurant with the metal seats outside i love. so different strokes, i suppose. but i haven't found better food than they serve there.good post. i always find that some of the best food i have on a trip is in mom and pop eateries, in small market stands, and sometimes even informal, impromtu meals on the street. in mde, my favorite is a little place on parque bolivar, which has terrific mondongo and bandeja. i personally think soups are the best thing about colombian food, but that is just me. the family that runs the place treats me with kindness and respect, and always is gald to see me. is it sophistocate food? no, it is simple, honest, and tasty.
i had a good meal in la mayorista that i would describe the same way.

Im totally new at ISG (I will post a copy to the other city-posts too).
I will make a tour to this cities mentioned above, with a start the first of december, last for 3-4 weeks.
I have been reading reports of where to go, and I think I can find very much of that kind of information here, but I have two things I havenīt decided/ donīt know yet:
1. In which order do you think I should visit those countries, which first and wish one last; Concerning weather and/or a festival or some attraction to catch.
2.How long time to spend at each city?
( I have 1,5 year school-spanish behind me and think I will have the chance to learn more other, more useful, words this trip.)
If there is someone that have other useful information to add, im happy for that as well.

PS 3 is Flakka Ocampos and she is problems, not one of the better ones from the Mansion. PS 2 is Yessica, she is very sweet but alittle smelly down below.

Arrival: Airport exit was pretty painless. Changed money at the airport, 1780 pesos to 1USD. I did not mind the rate but the whole process with the passport copy and computer entry took almost 7-8 minutes which is a long fucking time.
Hector, mansion's driver was waiting for me. Very nice guy, speaks excellent english. The ride from Airport is 45 minutes but it is a beautiful ride. This gave Hector time to give me a quick run down about MDE's history, geography and the general current state of affairs, safety etc. I think that kind of stuff can be useful to put oneself at ease.
The evening guy, Sebastian, checked me in. He is awesome. Lived in the states and speaks excellent english. They have excellent staff working now at the Casa Blanca I (CB I)
General items:
Money changing next day inside the Oveido mall (A block and half from CB I) was a breeze. 1790 pesos but most importantly, the guy did not ask for a passport and the transaction took one minute. Highly recommended.
Food court at the mall is excellent if you want a quick bite. Late and espresso at McD are better than Starbucks in the US. Burger king, also block from CB I is open till 5 AM. For those of you that have a crave for late night/early morning snack I found this to be a better option that to stop at street corner....especially if you are by yourself.
Weather: I was worried before I came here as the weather underground had bleak projections. Not the case at all. Brief light drizzle is all I experienced in the last 48 hrs and it is sunny as I write this. So, don't let the weather keep you away from MDE.
La Cripa: My spanish is not that good and need a local to be able to tell real Cripa from "regular" stuff. I ended up paying anywhere from 3000 to 5000 each.
Food: Las Palmitas is a fancy restaurant over looking the city. Food is quite good but not worth the price. El Alamo is a bar/restaurant in Parque lleras. I ended up there as it was the only place still serving dinner after midnight. The food sucked.
The first night I booked a girl from girlfriend4aweek and I had a fantastic experience. But that is for another report in that section.

Sunday:

As for implants and other dental treatments, Argentina (and possibly other countries) is cheaper than Colombia.
It's because it's cheap. I think it's like $20/month with no upfront fees.. A lot don't even go back to continue because they can't afford it and you'll see missing braces. Implants are cheap too. I should ask my amiga how much hers cost. Similar payment plans.

Last year I had A cleaning and a filling done and also a crown installed. Total cost was 125 dollars. Try to match that anywhere.
Since I spend a lot of time in Colombia I get my teeth cleaned there, but the cost is close to double what it is in Lima.
Since I have no health insurance in the Good Ole USA, I love latin America for the health care I need.
Whats that you say there is also beautiful women to be had on the cheap in these areas. Wow, I am a happy camper.

I have very little to declare and hope not to encounter being drilled by civil servant agents who hate there jobs. Past experience at different points of entry have been no pleasant ordeal.

Made another trip to the casas. Went to Sexi at around 2:30 on Monday. Did not quite like the line up so I left. Couple of buddies I went with were quite happy with their selections and were not so thrilled with the performance even after a promise of propina for BBBJ. BTW, Sexi only had cold showers.

He is not inexpensive but very good. I got cleaning, whitening and trays with gel for $280 US. It cost my friend the same stuff over $500 in the USA. Not cheap but good quality here as the doctor himself does all the work as opposed to a dental hygienist in the USA. The guy did such a good job protecting the gums that it was not painful at all. On the other hand, my buddy who had it done in US bitched about the pain and sensitivity to food for almost a week. BTW, he uses the same "zoom" system here in CO.

Gran JefeFLL is a great point of entry into the USA. I must have done it 10 times this year with no problems. The pain in the ass is when you leave the Colombian airports. I have had my bag checked up to 6 times. One time a guy opened my bag and did a real good inventory. A female stood there watching him and then checked my bag herself all over again. It took all my street smarts to dummy up.
I wanted to go to Lutron on Tuesday afternoon. One of the guys at CB talked me out of it. The rationale was that it is too expensive for a mechanical casa experience. I agreed and went looking at Abydos, Blue room and Energy.
Abydos: they had 9 girls and even though it took them forever to show up, the display is very professional. Hannah was the closest to my liking but I passed and on to Blue room. Price 100 mil for 30 and 120 mil for 60 min.

I had a great flight coming in to MDE. I met two guys sitting next to me and I never even opened a book as we talked the whole 3 hour flight time from FLL.
After getting settled in I went to El centro and checked out Las Americas, and Conejitas strip clubs. It was early in the night and nothing I saw was that good. Beer in both Joints was 5K. Unless I hook up with a crew I think Strip Clubs on this trip are now out of bounds for me. There is cheaper and as good if not better in the Casas and Mayorista. (opps I forgot I promised I would not promote that area)
I had my favorite street food in front of Las Americas (sausages for 1K)
Big surpeise it rained all night. A Puta told me in December the weather is better. I think the rain hurt the mayorista Strip as I did not see a lot of the regulars. I took Valeria who I had on my last trip. She has a great body and is super nice. She remarked on Todd who I met on my last trip. If your out there Todd she likes you. I held off on giving up my milk as I wanted at least one more girl to start off this trip. I went in for a teeth cleaning which cost 80k pesos, and ended up getting all ten of my silver fillings changed white and all my teeth whitened using the ultraviolet light for 720k pesos. Which is a 1/3 to 1/4 of what I would have paid for here in the States The Dentist was very nice, and office staff was cool. I would go back.

I'm on Crc 70 near the Metro station Thursday afternoon in Laureles. It is around 3 pm when all at once this fierce lighting storm kicks up with very high winds and driving rain. A huge tree falls across the street on a cab. This blocked the road and traffic was tied up. By now the streets are flooded and then all at once it starts hailing. I used to live in San Diego, California, but I now live in Medellin. I have experience with both cities in questions. Colombian girls are by far better looking than mexican women. Better looking faces and much better bodies. European features are common among the women in Medellin. On the other hand, Mexican women look like indians (native americans).
As far as mongering, it is much cheaper to monger in Colombia than in TJ. The quality of the working girls varies depending on the establishment.

I was rather lackadaisical in my conduct because as of late the only time I routinely pay for hookers for a night is in Dubai where the girls are scared silly of ever robbing a client. These Colombian girls are tough cookies and not scared of the Colombian police or a punk gringo like me. If fact, one of the chicks even called the police on me that night for refusing to pay her after her friend stole a bunch of money from me. I live in southern California and am in Tijuana once or twice a month. The ladies of MDE, on a whole are better looking, with nicer bodies. The are more apt to give you good service on the first session. The cost is also less in MDE than Tijuana. There are many levels to the scene in MDE. Agency's, Loutron's, Fase Dos, San Diego, Centro clubs, Mayorista. Speaking Spanish is much more important in MDE, since few speak English at all. IMJ, this is good, even though my Spanish is Kindergarten at best. I count on my other skills.
That being said, with you being a local, you know that there are many VGL ladies in Tijuana. The more one is in Tijuana the easier it is to have good sessions, with VGL ladies. There are SG's that are VGL for half the cost of bar girls. I have been with some stunners in Tijuana, as much for the experience as the ride. IMO, usually the stunners may not be the best performers, especially when there are fewer of them around.

Well, we've been having a nice couple of days with the skies opening up after what has been months of almost non-stop rain. I took these snaps from my novia's apartment in Envigado. I just couldn't resist the view and I thought I would share it with those who are making plans on visiting soon.

Here's what you do when you are in the chatting on line stage. You obviously asked her to be your guide, even a $rate was discussed. Durring that discussion/chat also inform her that you are looking for a girlfriend for the time you are here. This is where the negotiations start to happen.
A lot if guys really don't like this negotiation part and you never really know when you meet some of them on the street. Look at my previous post about girlfriends and pros - basically:

I can help her out if she needs anything" Use the word ayuda for help which is vague but usually means money and also with this you are not directly asking her. If she takes the bait and says "yo" you're in!

I do agree with you that there are "normal" girls in Colombia, I've been snake bit by a few undercover prepags. Facebook is a good way to meet chicks, friends of your friends. Not to say the prepags don't have FB pages but they don't recruit clients that way like on "dating" sites.

I donīt blame you for being skeptical, I know women in Medellin very well. But Iīm a pretty smart guy, ha,ha. My first girlfriend had, and still has a good paying job. She payed her share of utilities and rent back then according to her income, which I had calculated to be one third of mine. She drove me all over Colombia in her car and when we went on exotic vacations she payed her part. But when we just went out, I did pay for that and did not ask her for half.
My second girlfriend had a job also, but she worked 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, so I asked her to stop working because I couldnīt be in a relationship like that. I offered to pay her net income after deducting what she had to spend on food and travel to and from work. It was about 350,000cop. She had a little girl, thatīs why I wanted to do that, so she could finish school and take care of her little girl. She was a very simple girl, beautiful, but simple. Never asked me for anything. Her father lived in Texas then moved to Canada and was working on taking the whole family to Canada, but she preferred to stay with me in Colombia. Off the beaten path you might find a really great girl and want to cuida ella and her family. A real cool girl will not cost you much and will not play you as the Pro/non-pro will. MY point is 90% of these 25-and-under non-pros are incredibly flaky, with at best ambivalent attitudes towards the men in their lives. No matter how good looking, rich, charming, or fluent in Spanish you are, there's almost nothing you can do to change that. Remember, a lot of these girls are cheating and flaking out on good looking local guys, that have the cultural know-how to charm and romance these chicas. So stop worrying about what they "think" about you. The answer is probably not much, but unless you're looking for a serious long term thing, does it really matter?

I would have at least invited her back to my place to continue the party there. Her reaction to that would answer the question.
One night I was at Tu Candela disco in Cartagena. The place was hoppin and many, many girls were obvious full time or part time hookers. The Dollhouse nightclub in Medellin has closed following an investigation into the illegal hiring of foreign workers, and allegations that the club has links with the mafia, reports W Radio.
An unnamed source told the radio station that authorities are investigating whether the club is serving as a front to launder money connected to organized crime.
The investigation into the 5-month-old "world class five-star VIP entertainment center" located in the southern Medellin neighborhood of Itagui, began in February.
An investigation into the visa status of several employees was taken over by government intelligence agency DAS after the discovery of incidents of "odd behavior during night-time parties organized by the club."
DAS found that three Venezuelans, an American, and a Panamanian who worked in construction and remodeling on the club in the months leading up to its grand opening lacked the proper documentation to work in Colombia.
Further irregularities came to light when it was revealed that the Medellin Chamber of Commerce had no record of the club registering.
Workers at the club said it was owned by Glen Buzzetti, but Buzzetti was not named as a partner or owner of Dollhouse.
W Radio reports that Buzzetti allegedly had a conflict with an unnamed U.S. citizen who lent him a significant amount of money. The U.S. citizen later sent three men to claim the money, saying they worked for "Office of Envigado," a local criminal organization.
Dollhouse is currently closed for "remodeling" and will reportedly be opened under new management and a new name.
The investigation by the Colombian intelligence service is ongoing.

if I were you I would use a different hotel, for a couple of reasons:
- The Dann Carlton in Bogota once not only included the "guest charge" for a client I had supplied with a girl on the bill, they also included THE NAME OF THE GIRL! When the client complained they argued that "their system" doesn't allow them to take it out.
- The service is just pityful. It's probably the hotel with the worst service/price ration. They just don't give a rats ass about their clients.
- Their hotels seem very antiquated and out-of-fashion to me. They might have been posh when Palbo Escobar was still around, but these days...

If you are looking for something else, it is a lot of work to cull from the herd. I have found that when there is a personal introduction, some kind of connection, it works much better for me. There is a web site, exclusively for match making in Manizales and I will try it and report back.

I will tell you this chick is a nutcase. If you don't believe me just add alcohol. I invited her over to spend time with me a couple of weeks ago and she showed up with packed bags for the long haul. I lied to get rid of her and she returned in a couple days.I said what the hell as long as she doesn't get loco I can handle the last few days with her. we go to San Carbon because I enjoy the food and atosphere there. We start with a bottle of wine(mistake) and appetizers. By the time the main course arrived she was drunk and tlking trash about how much she hates gringos. It gets no better with time. She sees a couple of girls sitting at the bar and starts to ***** them out for being lesbians. Their boyfriends soon showed up and told her she was wrong ,at this time it is time to get a to go box for my dinner and send her somewhere else. The doorman calls a cab and she curses the cab driver so I told him the address. When we arrive she jumps from the cab crying and calling everyone she knows to come get her because I have ruined her night and made her get drunk. I must have had some bad luck as not one of her friends would come to get her. I take her up to the penthouse and she is in the floor telling me how much af an asshole I am and that she is a prepago that makes more money than most people in Medellin. I am patient and I wait and she finally goes to the bathroom and throws up and showers then come to bed with me acting as nothing was wrong. I told her to go to sleep and we can discuss this later. Thank god she finally passes out. The next day she acts embarrassed about situation. She will not leave and tells me she is going to airport with me to see me off. Damn, first time in many times in Medellin I was ready to leave to get away from her.I paid her a total of 200.000 pesos per day and that food and any other things she wanted was deducted from her pay. She had told me she asks for 500.000 pesos per hour because she is that good. I told her good luck. My return to Medellin in December will not include seeing her as I wish you luck if you end up with her. December will be like the other visits to Medellin "the more the merrier". I have to say that trip reminded me of the last days of my last marriage. I still love Medellin and I am sure there are more nutcases there but I hope to avoid them in December.

3) To begin with, I have not been anywhere in Latin Amercia except for Mexico. So I can't comment too much on the rest of Latin America. If I was going to do what you are planning, I would take a long hard look at Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. A city of 6 million people with several great universities. As well as some of the most beautiful women in the world.
-Guadalajara is where the French landed. For this, the population are a mixture of Indian and French blood instead of Indian and Spanish blood like most of Mexico.
-You still find the "morenas" (dark skinned women) but not too negrito. There are also several with blue and green eyes. Pure beauty to me is dark skin, dark hair and blue eyes.
-I also agree about the hot horny latin women. They are hot and passionate. They are not like the gringas who are cold and don't know anything at all about passion. I blame the Victorian influence that permeated throught the United States for this. Mothers always telling daughters that sex is a bad thing just leads to a lack of passion.
-I would like to know Nogales someday. I have made several trips to Caborca where I have a lot of friends, but have never been to Nogales.
-I am a $$ year old gringo that lived in Mexicali for 6 years and still go there as often as I can. I learned to speak fluent Spanish in the streets of Mexicali. It did help that I was stationed in Naples, Italy for 2 years in the XXs when I was in the Navy. I learned to speak fluent Italian there through courses from the University of Maryland and in the streets of Naples. That made Spanish fairly easy to learn for me. I did take 3 years of Spanish in high school but did not learn a damn thing.

-First comment: dont think that Colombia (NOT Columbia!) is so dangerous. You dont need to be a SEAL to survive. It's actually a pleasant place. Of course, there are dangerous places, but the same happens in Washington or LA. It depends where you. If your mental attitude when you go there for the first time is like going to Afghanistan, then you are wrong.
-Said this, my suggestion for you is to spend some weeks to travel around and experience yourself before moving for an extended period. I love Colombia, but I am sure that others would tell you good things also about Peru or Equador.
-Among places I visited in Colombia, I would recommend MEdellin to work, provided that you avoid spending your time with American sex tourists, like the frequent contributors of the Medellin forum on ISG. The key would be to succeed to have good local friends there, without letting them to know that you like P4P.
6) Hello Chica Luv -I would recommend Costa Rica. I don't think it's the best these days compared to it's more former reputation with respect to mongering. But, its still got to be better than the USA. It does have a large number of immersion Spanish Schools. I would recommend you consider IPED. A Gringo runs the school. It's located a ways outside of downtown San Jose, maybe a half hour up toward the foothills and the mountains, but not too far up in them, just a little ways. It's a good school, good people. There are a number of others of them too that are just as good in San Jose. The thing about Costa Rica is that it's safe. It would be less dangerous than Colombia can be. CR is close to the US. I think the airfare is probably as reasonable as you can expect for a Latin American country. The website for the IPED School is
-I have no affiliation whatsoever with the school, but I have attended the school for about a week several years ago. I only attended the classroom instruction, but they also have a full immersion program. The school is not large, and it's in a relatively simple little building. But, the classes are small, maybe only about 6 or 7 pupils at a time. My problem is I attended the school prior to actually being ready with respect to my own skill level, and frankly, I was more focused on other activities at the time. So, I could have gotten a lot more out of it than I did at the time. At that time, my skill level was very basic. Now, at my present skill level, I think their program could probably bring me to fluency. They do give homework every night, so you will have to take some time out of your evening activities to complete the homework. If you visit the website, you'll see a photo of the staff. The Gringo that runs the school has white hair and he's standing in the back row, second in from the right. I don't recall his name...Paul or John comes to mind, but I don't remember for sure. With regard to the climate, I think it's pretty decent most of the year. With regard to the girls, they are mostly Latina, but not the negrita type you describe, which is what you would mostly find if you traveled to Cartegena, Colombia for example. So, if you mix a little academics with pleasure, you'll be in the right place, although there are a number of girls there from the DR (negritas) in San Jose. I actually spent a lot of time with a couple of girls, and one of them was from the DR. She was a good companion. Like you, she was not my choice with respect to ethnicity, but she was a good girl. On the other hand, I also spent a lot of time with a girl from Nicaragua. She was a stripper in one of the high end bars, and she was about as perfect as you can get. She was a great companion too, a little expensive, but well worth it. I remember paying her by buying her a color TV from one of the electronics box stores there, only a couple of hundred bucks, and I think she spent almost three days with me that time. She was thrilled with the color TV. The first trip I was there, I bought her a bunch of clothes. I actually hooked up with her a couple of times, and we were becoming pretty inseparable. But, I eventually lost track of her. Too bad...Funny, I wonder what percentage of girls actually remember us to the same extent we remember them. I also attended a school in Cartegena, and it was also quite advanced for my level in Spanish. And, again, at the time, I was too focused on other activities. But, the Cartegena School was good as well, part of the University system in Cartegena. I don't remember the particulars, about that school. If I find a file on it somewhere in my office, I'll forward the information to you if you're interested. The school was part of the University, and just north of the beach area about 20 minutes by taxi. Cartegena at the time was pretty safe as well, but not as safe as Costa Rica in my opinion. I don't know where it stands these days as I haven't been back there lately. With regard to their Spanish Language program, nobody speaks English in Cartegena, so you have to have some degree of proficiency to get along, as compared to Costa Rica, where if you stay at El Presidente Hotel in downtown San Jose, Costa Rica, the staff speaks English, as does the staff at IPED. So, my preference would be San Jose. You'll find that the language pronunciation in San Jose is purer than you will find in Colombia as well. And, perhaps that will aid in your actually learning the language more easily. In Cartegena they clip off a lot of the ends of the words, and it's a little harder to understand their Spanish pronunciation there. Hope that helps! -Medellin or Bogota would be my next choice. My only reason, why I would not stay in those two cities is that they are too small and would run out of things to see and do. I can't fuck all day or night long anymore or do I want to. B.A. has so much more to see and do. I walk 5-6 hours a day there.

9) The girls in Colombia are cuter than in Peru. Might be more GFE here. The climate in Medellin might be better than in Lima. However Lima climate is probably better than in Cali or Bogota. Cost of living in Medellin and Miraflores is probably about the same. Diferent language programs are available here, I donīt know how they compare to those in Medellin...youīll have to Google. Miraflores is definitely safer, calmer than Medellin. In general no risk taking a taxi or going to an ATM. Its a toss up...you might want to hop down here and stay in an apt. for a week, then take a flight (direct on LAN) to Medellin and do the same.

10) Hi Chica, Pereira or Armenia, why ? Weather, larger cities with the population you require without being like the Bogota/Medellin/Cartagena tourist traps. If I had to live somewhere else in Colombia other than MDE, Id pick Armenia, regards.
11) Chica, Low humidity and nice weather make it a no-brainer decision for Medellin, Colombia. Don't let the reports of incessant rain this year deter you. This year is an anamoly. Almost all of Colombia is experiencing abnormal heavy rainfall. I think it's El Niņo/La Niņa related.
-The only slight downside according to your criteria is the proponderance of lighter skinned and blonder haired women in MDE but I wouldn't let that deter you either. Here's why: (1) While there are more of the lighter skinned variety in MDE there are still plenty of the dark haired, olive skinned classic latina type too. And, (2) IMO, a hot chick is a hot chick. While I too prefer the classic latina look I find it really doesn't matter much when face to face with a hot sexy chic willing to fuck you. Regardless of her skin tone, eye color, hair color.
-Bogotá might be a good choice except that the weather is much rainier and colder but the availability of language institutes and chicas would be even greater than MDE due to sheer size. Bogotá is a capital city of about 7 million people (maybe too big) while MDE has about 2.1 million inhabitants.
-Other than those two the only other places I can think of you might consider are:
-Quito, Ecuador but the overall quality of the women is in no way as good as almost anywhere in Colombia or, Buenos Aires, Argentina although if you are there in the middle of summer (Nov to Feb or March) the weather is hot and very humid. Huge city, > 10 million inhabitants. Great women. More or less on par with Colombia allthough with their own characteristics that I don't have time to go into.
-Anywhere on the Caribbean coast or Cali is out due to high temps and humidity.
-sorry I don't have any recommendations regarding language institutes allthough one way I can think of for you to get great advice and guidance, besides doing your own online research, is to go stay at the Casa Blanca (formerly Medellin Mansion) complex for a week or so and use them to direct you. You'll get a good feel for MDE and it's women that way too. A lot of guys say there isn't enough to do in MDE outside of chasing women but I say that's nonsense. Among other things, I occupy my time going to gyms, pools, jogging, and in general staying fit. If you're not into fitness, your school/study routine should keep you busy enough.
12) I will take you up on that offer if I get to AZ. For Colombia it would be a dream for the women but if you cannot stand the heat... Check out Peru, Chile, Quito, Ecuado or the lower part of the continent like southern Brazil. Thats what I would think

14) Don't know too much about other countries, but if you're considering Colombia, I think the main choice is either between Bogota and Medellin. Medellin has warmer weather; Bogota is cooler and has more precipitation, although Medellin has its rainy seasons. There's plenty of colleges and opportunities to learn Spanish in either city. Also both cities have small groups of expats you can make contact with. NEITHER city is cheap nowadays, especially the capitol. Bogota is more cosmopolitan, more stuff to do there if that's your thing. But with today's lousy exchange rate, Bogota in particular can be costly to live
-You can also look into the secondary cities in the "Coffee Zone" like Pereira, Armenia, Manizales. They all have colleges but they're smaller cities, less to do, less selection of women, probably not as many spanish-learning options. But cost of living is lower there.
-Then there's Cali. Cali can get hot and humid during the day although the nights are wonderful. Still, I don't think the city is good for newbies or people with weak Spanish. Not too many expats in Cali. There's a tendency for the women there to be a bit thicker and darker, although there's all types. Heck, I dated a girl there that was as light-skinned and as skinny as you can possibly get! Cost of living is a bit lower in Cali, Cali is poorer and has more social problems than MDE and BOG. I actually like Cali, but you might want to wait and get your bearings before checking it out.
-Cartagena and the other big cities on the north coast (Baranquilla, Santa Marta) are hot and humid as hell. I didn't really like Cartagena, and from what you're saying, I don't think you will either. Still, Cartagena is the main touristic city of the country and is worth a brief visit. By the way, the beaches near Santa Marta are way nicer than in CTG. Baranquilla has hotties, but it's not an expat friendly city. Add the weather and crime issues, it's not a viable option for foreigners with no Spanish.
-If you have the savings and time, I'd recommend that you do a "south american" odyssey. You can stay at youth hostels in almost any Colombian city; and in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, etc. there are hostels as well.
-Try to explore before you settle. It'll give you a better idea what you're really looking for and how the the different cities (and countries) compare to each other. You'll probably feel that you won't fit in with the other backpackers; just tell the kids jokingly you're sick and tired of the states and you want to do what you missed out on in your youth before you get too old. There's a few middle-aged boho type backpackers out there so it's not like you'll be a completely unique thing.
-Look up "Frugal Traveler" in the nytimes.com web site for ideas on traveling on the cheap in south america. Then there's the "couch surfing" and other similar services where you rent a room or bed in someone's apt. Again, this stuff is youth oriented but I think with the right attitude/approach, it shouldn't be a problem for you to get into these things and save yourself some money.
-As for safety, I don't think you'll have to worry about violent crime (unless you're staying in a bad part of town). But be careful with all kinds of scams, especially as your Spanish is going to be weak at first. In Bogota, watch out for scopalomine ("Burundanga") scams. Trust me, even a marine can get their drink or food spiked/poisoned. You really don't want to be a victim, it's a scary thing; you won't remember who did it to you or how it exactly happened but it can scar some people for life, and not just psychologically, some folks end up with neurological damage!
-You can also check out poorbuthappy.com, it has a colombia forum although it's closed now. But you can ready the archives, a lot of useful info from expats, not all of it is out of date. Also check out colombianblog.com or put "Colombia" and "forum" or "blog" as search terms in Google for more info.

-I think, there are much bigger issues going on here. You seem very restless and you really don't have any clear idea about what you want. Is learning Spanish a primary or secondary goal? Don't mix it up with chicas. That confuses the issue. About chicas- are you looking for totally regular girls or P4P? Do you want to settle in a beach town or mountain area? I would suggest that you compartmentalize your thoughts, assign priorities to your goals and concentrate on two to three countries at the most. Make sure, being an expat, you cannot ignore the political situation in that country also.
-I am a little older than you and work in a hospital in XXXX. When I teach a class and the students have similar problems regarding other issues, I gave them the same advice- break down the problem and address each component separately. I hope you don't mind my frank talk.
-I will strongly recommend that you post your question on every South and Central American board in ISG and see what kind of response you get. You may contact some of the posters in Expat section of the board.
-When I was in Medellin, Colombia this year, I met a guy in the Mansion who was taking Spanish class everyday in the university. This was his 50th trip to Medellin. Although, he is not living there, but you could tell he loves that place.
-I love Medellin too. There is only one season. Nice temperature all year, like San Diego. The girls look very pretty, although pure Negras are minority (you need to go to Sousa, DM for that). But there are enough available pretty girls with little darker skin, black hair, black eyes- that you will be very happy with. This will be my current recommendation.
-Lima, Peru, also has a nice university town and world famous Spanish schools. I had wonderful time in Lima and I went there many times. It is much easier to get regular girls there and they provide true GFE. But, because of their native Indian heritage, the girls may not be that pretty as compared to Colombian girls. But if learning Spanish is your primary goal, I would definitely recommend Lima. However, it can get a little chilly during August, Sept. Oct. Nonetheless, as opposed to Medellin, there are beaches in Lima.

It's incredibly convenient if you ride the Metro, but hard for taxi drivers to find due to the fact the road it is supposed to be on is underground in a tunnel at the location Geishas is supposed to be.
Get off at the Prado station and go down the stairs farthest to the North. When you exit the bottom of the stairs you will be in a brick paved park like area. Look about 45 degrees to the right and you will see a three story building. Geishas is through a door in the middle of that building and on the 2nd floor. There is a sign at the door saying Geishas.

3) To begin with, I have not been anywhere in Latin Amercia except for Mexico. So I can't comment too much on the rest of Latin America. If I was going to do what you are planning, I would take a long hard look at Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. A city of 6 million people with several great universities. As well as some of the most beautiful women in the world.
- Guadalajara is where the French landed. For this, the population are a mixture of Indian and French blood instead of Indian and Spanish blood like most of Mexico.
- You still find the "morenas" (dark skinned women) but not too negrito. There are also several with blue and green eyes. Pure beauty to me is dark skin, dark hair and blue eyes.
-I also agree about the hot horny latin women. They are hot and passionate. They are not like the gringas who are cold and don't know anything at all about passion. I blame the Victorian influence that permeated throught the United States for this. Mothers always telling daughters that sex is a bad thing just leads to a lack of passion.
-I would like to know Nogales someday. I have made several trips to Caborca where I have a lot of friends, but have never been to Nogales.
-I am a $$ year old gringo that lived in Mexicali for 6 years and still go there as often as I can. I learned to speak fluent Spanish in the streets of Mexicali. It did help that I was stationed in Naples, Italy for 2 years in the XXs when I was in the Navy. I learned to speak fluent Italian there through courses from the University of Maryland and in the streets of Naples. That made Spanish fairly easy to learn for me. I did take 3 years of Spanish in high school but did not learn a damn thing.

This is my third trip this year. This city just keeps on getting better and better. I arrived Medellin 11 pm night of November 2. Went straight to my favorite place Lindas Chicas.
Day 1:

Hotel charges 110k pesos per person and it is all inclusive for food and stay. This hotel has 4 pools. I took a girl from Lindas Chica for this one day trip and I was very satisfied with the service provided.
Day 4:
I came back from San Jeronimo around 1 pm yesterday and Mansion started full of girls. Marcy did an amazing job and she had 12 beautiful girls. I took Yuliana. Actually Chica Luv has made some good contributions to the GDL board here. Anyway, having spent a lot of time in Guadalajara, I'd respectfully disagree. The city is not beautiful. I don't think the women are either, except by Mexican standards. Going to Guadalajara to get laid is about like going to Dallas to get laid, both for pros and nonpros. It's not cheap except at the low end, and the women are materialistic. They're probably just as materialistic in Colombia, but there's a lot more money floating around GDL, so it's harder to compete. The cities in Colombia that I've visited beat Guadalajara, both as a tourist destination and a place to get laid, except for Barranquilla.

In the last five years, Colombian (and Brazilian, Peru and others) GDP increased by 50% while the USA GDP increased by 10%. In addition (accordingly), COL Peso became stronger against the US $ by 30%. Colombia will maintain the same price for Americans if and only if the USA will have annual GDP growth similar to South America. Simply impossible.

The country is changing, the people are changing. More girls going to College and being fead american feminist values. Also the economy changed in the last five years, sky rocketing real estate. I have many a time come across reports once I post that I over spend. Ok here is the situation. I fly from Toronto to Medellin it cost me $ 1,000. Second I stay in Mansion it cost me about $ 100 per day. Let's say if I am making a trip for 10 days. My start up cost only including flight and Hotel at Mansion is $ 200 per day. Now think about it what is an extra $ 50 to $ 100 per day to get a great experience.
I am honest about my reports and you are right that if i spent $ 400 on girls in a day and none of them turned out to be fantastic experience then I am wasting my money.
Generally I only get 1 day in the whole trip which goes bad and that also once in may be 3 or 4 trips.
Now let's boil down the money issue. All currency below is US$.
Many of the guys coming to Medellin could be clearing for example 50 k a year after taxes. Now let's say for them $ 10 has very insignificant value.
Now compare that to a guy who clear 200 k per year after taxes. To a person making 200 k, $ 50 is like same as $ 10 for a guy making 50 k per year.

As a fellow Canadian allow me to try and fashion a compromise. In some cases by not haggling down to the last peso, a gringo (like John) may likely (but not in all cases) improve his experience with a chica. Conversely a gringo that jumps at the first price no matter how ridiculously high is likely to be seen as an easy mark (or chump) and may (but not in all cases) be exploited by a chica.
That said, I think John's point was that if he's losing US$25 ($50,000 pesos) by not haggling he doesn't consider it as exploitation because he's dropped US$2,000 just to be in Medellin and $25 in his universe isn't worth the effort. This line of reasoning will always upset the Cartel here on ISG who believe in strict price controls.
As and aside, I've never really understood why having the respect of a girl who takes your money (and money from many others) for sex is important to some, but as the French say Chacon a son gout.

With the influx of gringos (US, Canada, Europe, Aus, etc) into Colombia over the recent years, there really are no price controls.
Too many guys for that, too many newbies for that, too many opinions.
That's just the way it is. No use grumbling about it.

It is great to read your post. I took a few friends of mine (different group) their over the last 2 months. They were first timers. They actually like the quality of the girls BUT the service "Sucked" in a bad way. In addition, the majority of the girls asked for "Propina" (Tip) after. My one friend (Speaks fluent Spanish) felt like he was back in Tijuana! Its really sad cause it use to be generally a great place.
