I'm with you. I find Centro all around more convenient. Sure, I break it up with visits to Lleras and Poblado but usually if I'm bringing a girl out not looking for one. Sad to say, most of today was a loss. I had to go to the Migracion Colombia (immigration) office to register my visa and apply for my cedula. Trip from Poblado to casa takes 30 minutes during day but 15 minutes during night, want to reduce travel during day. I won't recommend nutibara more than two days, not good to stay in room for long hours due to noise issue.

Several of them only accept couples. Most of them accept singles only on some days of the week. For example, in MDE the 3 most popular (Dreams, Lili and another I forgot the name) accept singles one on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. In Bogota, I know only one which accept singles (and it is the most basic and run down).
The operation is simple: you leave all your clothes, phone, things in a cabinet and can keep only a towel around your waist. They give you a bracelet for the key of the cabinet and condoms. Entrance fee is cheap, at least for us foreigners: it could be from 30k to 60k for a single male (when admitted). Drinks are for a fee, but really cheap.
The good thing is that they all have a sauna and steam bath. Some even a jacuzzi for 5.
How is the people there? On the nights for singles, few couples, mostly aged, some looking for playing with singles. YMMV! I spent full afternoons in Bogota in that club, doing nothing except looking the naked ladies playing with her husband. For the upper class, swinging is more of a private affair. Their parties aren't open to everyone who has a few pesos. That's why you'll find mostly middle class people at a swingers club.
Any decent swingers club will limit access of single men. As a rule, single men behave badly in a swingers club. Especially when the number of single men greatly outnumbers the number of women. Personally, I tend to use the same private driver who charges 80 and I give him 100 each time just because he's punctual and reliable. I see it a little differently. I do notice the mentality you described but I don't think it's very common among guys who spend time in places beyond the Mansion, casas, strip clubs, and freelancer bars. Every so often, and it is very noticeable, I see a guy who is in a supermarket, a university campus or other public place leering and gesturing at random women. It's not a good look. The white airport taxis are 65 mil to Poblado and 50 mil back. I use the same guy every time. He is honest and told me the prices. Pay any more than that either way and someone is taking advantage of you (more the principle than the money, obviously).
80 MIL. OUCH? The refgular taxi is 75 mil and most private drivers are 70-75, you were overcharged by 5-10 mil, a whole $3. 50 at most.

Day one.
Flew spirit airline's out of FLL at a rate of 192 bucks round trip. We all know spirit is a shitty airline who is grossly incompetent. This goes for every employee who works for spirit! That would result in a murder rate of approximately 20 murders per 100 000.But that is counted over 12 months and out of 100,000 US visitors to Guatemala on avg 1.18 of them will be murdered per year. That number stays the same regardless how long you visit.
A shorter visit doesn't increase your chances.

So I am still in Medellin going on almost one month this visit, this being my third visit this year and dozens and dozens since 2008.

Conejitas Bar, Friday night spent 2 hours in Conejitas bar across from Plaza Botero, everything that you hear on this board about being safe in this bar and the area is true, this is NOT for the faint of heart. I only went because my Colombian friend was himself a bass-ass in his younger years and is very street smart but now is risk tolerant and understands how to stay safe. We parked in a paid garage on Cr 53 which is between CL 54 and CL 53, for those of you that know this area it is filled with bars, SW, drugs and gangs roaming the streets, if you walk a bit further this is the same street and area on the backside of Museo de Antioquia. In the daytime, it is risky but at night or early AM not a police in sight so watch out. We walked from our parking garage to Conegitas. In the bar beers are cheap, 20 to 25 chicas, some very doable, some I would not "fuck with your dick" as the saying goes. Some real bad ass gangster types in this bar that you don't want to cross. I was the only gringo in the bar and the area. Did not take any girls but after 2 hours made our way out and to our car on Cr 53 and got the hell out of there. What I did last November was order a 7 Plus from through a friend of mine who has an ATT contract. The ATT rep had no problem selling me an unlocked phone and me paying with my credit card.
Any phone can be unlocked, old or new. You can buy unlocked versions of any phone. Newer phones cost more to unlock or to buy unlocked than older phones. Many Americans pay for phones as part of service provider contracts. Those contracts generally restrict how soon you can request unlock codes. If a phone is "under contract" with a carrier, you would have to contact the carrier to request a free unlock code. I only buy unlocked phones because I travel frequently and have no patience for dealing with carriers and unlocking services. In my experience, the cost of an unlocked phone is has always been less than the cost of contracts with carriers like T&T and T-Mobile. Those contracts are advertised as including "free phones" or "free phone upgrades." They are not nearly free because they require you buy data plans and pay monthly fees for years at a time. It adds up to much more than the $500 to $1,000 cost of late model smartphones.

Since I spend about 5 months a year outside the US, I've switched to Google Fi. I travel with one phone and get international data for the same cost as I get mobile data in the USA $10 per Gig. I love not having to mess with unlocking phones, sim cards, multiple phone and multiple phone numbers. They also give me a separate data only sim which can go into a backup phone or data enabled tablet. When the plane touches down I have data and works great in Medellin (and the other 10 countries I have visited since I got this service). Google customer service is excellent. I can also think of several Latin countries that have both legal "colectivos" and illegal ones. Perú would be such a place. If the drivers of the white taxis from the airport are stopping at the city limit and starting the meter, they must assume it's always your first visit.
Why don't you tell them you live in Bello, which is only 70 k and then redirect them? Save yourself 5 k and avoid the bizarre behavior of taxi drivers stopping at the city limit to start a meter. Better yet, take a picture of the sign, pay 65 k and if the driver argues show him the picture.
Depending on where a person is staying, the cheapest way is to pay 9500 for the bus to either Nutibara or Centro Comercial San Diego (Las Palmas). From there a taxi will run less than 20 k.
For me, the airport bus then a short walk through San Diego, cross the street and 2000 for a bus which drops me within 50 yards of my apartment is a good alternative.

C5.Yes, they are high. In my opinion Energy is nicer. All the showers I've been in had hot water and an actual shower head. The average girl at Energy is older, but slightly better looking, again, IMO. Plus, my average experience at Energy has been better.
One other thing, New Life is 50 k for 30 minutes. Energy is 140 k for 60 minutes. If I get a really fun girl, I'd rather do 60.
The extra cost is about the rooms. They are nicely appointed. New Life is just as clean but the furnishings are not as nice. The surrounding neighborhood of Energy is much nicer than Centro. Not to be redundant on an old point, but I had to chime in with a big "damn right" regarding Combo and Mr. Enternational's comments. I've met some great girls in Latin America, and especially in Colombia, and have had plenty of occasions in which I had to resist the temptation of wanting to "hang out and get to know her better". Good tip, it is Puerta Azul, as in la puerta. Taxistas will also be able to decipher the street address if you show it to them. Another easy way to find it is it is next door to a small restaurant / bar called "Botaniko". Unlike New Life and other casas, Botaniko has a large sign above its door. This is 100% correct but the discussion is absurd to me. It's very simple, don't send money. Ever. The requests are a long standing continuous scam aimed a extracting cash from anyone naive enough to give it up. I think those of us with the means have an obligation to support charitable causes. I put my money where my mouth is and I donate. Sending providers cash on demand is another deal altogether. Legitimate charities are subject to audits and regulations to publish information about how donations are used. Obviously, Western Union honeys have no such obligations.
To be clear, I am not criticizing anyone. I'm writing this in the hopes of preventing someone handing out money under fraudulent circumstances. So here is an example of what I'm getting at. More than once I've traded old mobile phones for provider services, only to later see photos of the providers' boyfriends / pimp / whatever with the phone in hand on social media. That is how it works.
Universal healthcare in Colombia. Unless you happen to be a glue sniffer, homeless on the street dirt poor; almost 100% of the population is covered. If you live somewhere, apartment, house, etc. You are almost certainly covered.
