Anyone have an update on the strike in Colombia.

I just got off of yahoo with a novia from Bogota and her daughter is stranded in Medellin. Her other daughter who lives about 30 blocks north of her can not get home to her mothers house as the busses are on strike.

My novias barrio is running short on fresh items as most Latinas shop daily for fresh items.

I have not heard from my friend in Medellin as the phones there do not seem to work.

Price: $70 per night plus $5 tax. Single. Same all seasons.

Reservation: don't bother with an email. They don't have a web presence or an email. It will be answered by howard johnson downtown. Just call +5999 868 8044 and ask for a reservation. Or just show up. I doubt this place is ever full.

Getting there: from the airport, taxi is 5 min, $10. Or you can walk if your baggage is light, but it is slightly uphill and Curacao is hot. If is to the left as your exit the airport.

Getting from hotel to campo. About 6 min by taxi, $10. Ask reception to get you a taxi for campo. Or you could walk. To the left, then take the first paved left turn and you will see the Campo big round sign (actually you can see it from the hotel).

Getting from campo back to hotel: there are always rides outside. $10. Reception is open all night but you can go straight to your room anyway. There is no main door to be locked. I would not recommend walking at niight, as you might get hit by a bad driver. There are no sidewalks.

Getting to airport: walk or taxi.

Room. Nice, clean, airco, tv, no shampoo in my bathroom, wifi is only by the restaurant.

Hotel Facilities: run down, worn carpets, etc. But lobby is nice, they have a pool, a casino, live music some nights, restaurant with breakfast lunch and dinner, bar with no lemons!! This is a casino/motel that locals go to gamble and dance and drink. This is not a tourist vacation resort, but it is not a dive. I was satisfied.
