I just returned from 4 days in Medellin. Everything posted about the Mayor's attempt to scare men seeking underaged girls is true. The airport, street signs and billboards threaten men seeking underaged girls. Of course, the one man accused of having 2 underaged girls in his hotel room, and not caught in the act of doing anything illegal, quickly fled the country when released from jail the next day and the police are looking very stupid, so the Mayor is trying to appease his voters that he now is protecting their young daughters.

Parque Lleras now has several barricades with police check points, costing the city much money to man, and the cops are checking IDs of everyone for age, nothing else, maybe to show a presence and intimidate, but a total waste of police resources since the ONE individual accused of inappropriate conduct has left the city many weeks ago. Bars are open again, after being shut down for a week or so, then gradually opened again with limited hours, now back to full hours.

Thursday about 9 pm, I walked around the park. Saw many solid 8's, 9's but also many fatties, tattoo freaks, fuglies. The going rate quoted was 250 mil pesos. Many attractive women are asking 350 mil pesos now. One very fine solid 9 was asking 400 mil pesos. Beware, though, they are all sneaky, experienced, lying hardened prostitutes. You will negotiate a price, then when you get the girl back in your room they will try to underperform and then get the full pay. I just walked around and looked at the girls. Many were tired, appeared robotic, only doing a job and not very personable or interested in me, only in money.

Generally speaking one of the worst times to come to Colombia is Mid April through Mid May that's the rainy period.

Not saying you can't have fun but if you love hitting the Park or Centro looking at hoes that activity is curtailed during this time.

Schedule was working out so it had to be this time for me. But, now, I know why the flight was so reasonable. The flight was still completely packed and I was offered money to take the next flight but I wasn't going to spend a day at the Miami airport just waiting to have fun. One of my fun things to do in Medellin is to walk and just enjoy the local ambiance; that sure has been canceled. What is surprising is that none of the weather apps I have downloaded predicts the rain accurately; I am having tons of beer and coffee waiting for rain to lighten up.
