Have a good time in Quito, hopefully you will post a trip report when you get back; I'm interested to see how you will hit so many places in such little time!

As to your questions, Friky answered a lot of them. Just to let you know regarding ATM's, I had a problem finding very many ATM's in Quito that worked with my gringo ATM card, most machines would not accept it. The best places for me to withdraw cash were the machines in the 5 star hotels, since those are made for tourists and their foreign cards. But I had a hard time finding any on the street that would take mine. And there are no multi-national banks in Quito either (like Citibank, HSBC, etc).

You'll have to let us know about the guest friendly-ness of your hotel. That question has been asked many times on this board and no one has an answer!

Don't know of any specific places, but I have talked to a couple local mongers in Quito, and it sounds like once you get out of the two big cities of Ecuador, pussy usually costs no more than 5 bucks. There is supposedly one place just on the outskirts of Manta that services the guys from the US air force base there for about 5 dollars, and from what I've been told, there are actually some hot women there. Maybe Friky or one of the other locals have some more info on these places?

Some answers to hoof hunters, i cant help you with some:

2: Yes every ATM give US dollars

3: i say about 6-7 Us dollar, you gotta take pracaution in the airports with bag carriers, if the taxi drivers notice you´re gringo they may double the fee.

4: The cheap markets are in Centro Historico de Quito, but look out for thugs there.

5: If you go in local busses, less than a dollar, the busses for going to la mitad del mundo, pass thourgh avenida la América

6: The only one that has a promo long time ago of opening Sundays, is Medellin in Meneses y la Gasca, i dont if this continues.

7: Maybe,never asked for it, there is one massage room in espectador 817 and shirys, a block north of Quicentro Mall, opens 10 am to 7 pm, charges $10 for the massage.

9: The plan seems fine.

The cheapest way to get there from mariscal is to take the trolley on 10 de Agosto until the end of the line, then transfer to a bus that heads further south to the Guamani district (pronounced Uamani).

Otherwise the cab fare is $10 each way.

Anyway, decided to make a run to Quito this weekend. Fri-Sun. Went back about 15 pages and read as much as I could. The rest, I just printed for reading later. I reviewed much of the info. Props to Ezinho, Tung, Doom, Civid, Friky, etc. for their great contributions!!!! Very detailed indeed.

I'm not gonna buy a bottle of Johnny Walker Red for $60, when I can get a bottle for $15 at duty-free. Nor am I that dude who's gonna break the bank to pay for one piece of ass, in a town where there's plenty available. To me, stuff like that doesn't make sense. No disrespect intended to anyone, just my thoughts. Therefore, I'll leave Quito in the same way that I met it.

I still have several minor questions that I needed answered. I speak pretty good Spanish, better than average, but not perfect. Bear with me, I've pretty seasoned of a traveller, but never been to Ecuador. Not expecting anyone to be able to answer all of them, I'll take whatever you can offer.

1. Is Hotel Embassy guest-friendly? Based on a few recommendations on this site, I called up and reserved a room. Single rooms priced at $38 incl taxes and bfast, double room for $48. Sound about right? Had a bad phone connection with the girl and just made the reservation, worry about the price later. Just hoping that I don't get hit a separate guest fee, even if I book a double room.

2. ATMs there disburse US dollars, correct?

3. What is the approx. taxi cost and time from airport to Hotel Embassy? Any special cabs to look out for? I ask because in Lima and Bogota, precautions need to be taken.

4. Are there any inexpensive shopping markets around for clothing? Places where the locals go, not the ritzy Centro Commercials. For instance, in Colombia, I can hit San Andresito or El Hueco, or in Lima Peru, I can hit Polvos Azules to rack up on shit like underwear, socks, even t-shirts, sometimes sneakers.

5. How long of a trip is it to La Mitad del Mundo? I'm thinking of getting up on Sunday and headed there to have a picture taken on me on/near the equator. Something to show the boss.

6. Are any casas/chica bars open on Sunday afternoons?

7. Does anyone in Masajes Medellin actually do massages? It's become a bit of a routine for me, after long flights, to get a massage, and unwind the muscles. Esp. since they are way cheaper than in the USA.

8. Any non-pro, gringo-hunter bars/discos worth hitting for a drink or two on weekend nites? I'm not expecting to pull anything out of there, but just meet some friendly party chicas.

9. Finally, I've come up with a semi-idea of what to hit on a short trip, can someone confirm if I'm on the right track? Mind you, I do want to mix-up some non-pro spots somewhere in the mix. Feel free to pass along any pearls of wisdom. I'm a late night owl, so if you know of any late night spots that are worth the time, fill me in.


Friday nite
- Arrive 9:15 pm
- Arrive at Hotel Embassy approx. 10 pm
- Do the perfunctionary 3 s's (shit, shower, shave optional)
- Hit the streets out by 10:30 pm
- Hit Coyote Ugly, Vibracion, Doll House (to see high-end chicks - probably won't pick any)
- Hit non-pro spot to re-coop for an hour or so
- Hit Body, Cocktel Bar, Nightcats, La Fragata


Saturday
- After bfast, and walking around to get a lay of the land, look for a real massage place
- After massage, do some light shopping
- Hit the chica trail all afternoon, Cafe Rojo, La Nina, Guajira, Masajes Medellin, VIP Paradise Women, Cheers, etc - not planning on scoring in each place, but at least to check out the goods
- At night, use experienced gained from previous night to decide which way to flow
- If luck works out, I'll be able to pull a TLN off who'll cool out with me on my Sunday excursions


Sunday
- Probably do some sight-seeing (amateur photography crap)
- Try to make it to the equator for a cool pic
- Try to score with one of the chicas from earlier in the wkd before hitting the airport

La luna is in the southern limit of the city, south of the guamani sector, that will be like 10 km. far from Gringolandia, even i dont know how to get there.

It is not so difficult to miss, is a big place, not so far away from a toll station, is famous for reciving truckers, even has parking slots for trucks, so is a big place, with the a big "la Luna" sign outside.

That was a long ride to the southern part of town to the fuck factory named La Luna. Well, if seems as fearless as you are, i should ask if everyone wany me to post of the casas i know, in the far north of the city, i dont put them right away because, they are near two city districts, that be called Quito´s equals to Bronk in New York, also these places cant be visited in the daylight, cause most of them open at 6 pm, the street have poor ligthing, and once in a while you can hear gunshots at the distance. I need to ask if you are cool with this, otherwise i will feel guilty for anything that may happen, there were 8 casas there in my last count.

Today wandering drunk in the middle of world cup triumph party, i found a new place is in Reina Victoria 860 and Wilson, it opens at 7 pm or so, entrance is $2 and $20 usd for the girls, the quality was not so good for the price but this adds to the collection of casas.

Ecuador! Ecuador! Ecuador! The shouts are filling the streets here in Quito and the celebrating will go on long into the night after Ecuador beat Poland today in their first World Cup finals game. The score 2-0.

Knowing that the game was a big deal I decided to head up to Café Rojo and watch the game there with a crowd and beautiful chicas. My experience is that you can find some fine chicas even in the $10 range here, and I wouldn't pay more than $20. Of course if you want to pay for a room in the Hilton then probably you would have no problem paying $100 at one of the more expensive clubs.

I have not yet been interested in long time chicas, but now that I have got some idea of the women here, how much would you expect to pay for long time, say 4 hours or more? Maybe one of the smaller cities maybe a better hunting ground for this, where life is slower, and time is not as expensive.

The closing down of Touch me is temporaly, last year cheers was closed down with the same sticker, only to return in two weeks, but the girls quality waaaaay better before the closing, hope this doesnt happen when they open again.

went to touch me today and the place is shut down. the door was sealed with two postings by the ministry of health saying that is was closed as of june 2nd. i was quite disappointed to find this as i had yet to visit this place. i have no idea when it will reopen or why the ministry of health shut it down. i assume the chicas just moved to other casas though.
