Posts: 4833One of the things you and Tooms do not get is how much government gets in the way of things. In Mexico or Brazil, when I studied it, you could buy a converter and power you car on natural gas. The cost was only $800 back then in Mexico or Brazil but was $10,000 in the USA because of government regulations.

Oh, and Texas not your dumb Dem state of California is the leader in alternative energy production. https://insideclimatenews.org/news/0...as-renewables/
But, but, but Texas is MAGA country. That should show everyone when it comes to energy Republicans are the smart ones.
Only a dumb Dem like you would cite California and Australia as shining examples of great energy policy. That you are constantly blabbering about cheaper energy and glorify those two places shows you do not know what you are talking about.

Posts: 7974Ah, the sweet smell of Trump / Repub Love!
Uh. Trump and Repub MAGAs love the poorly educated because they are the suckers that fall for their con so they can win elections and produce their patented Great Repub Depressions, Great Repub Recessions and Massive Repub Jobs Destruction.

You know why he loves the idea of across-the-board tariffs replacing the progressive income tax system? Because the hit on the poor, the poorly educated and everyone else you said he "loves" will be exponentially greater than on the top income brackets and super wealthy, the only people he would ever come within arms length of in the first place. Do you think Musk and Trump's other buddies he took with him to that China Begging trip worry about an extra 25% - 50% added to the cost of an automobile or home appliances? The people you claim Trump loves so much sure as hell do.
I haven't read of a Great Repub Depression, Great Repub Recession, Massive Repub Jobs Destruction or a Repub Pandemic and Worldwide Repub Economic Collapse yet that turned out well for the poor, poorly educated or anyone else on your list of "Loves" for Trump and his fellow Repubs.
I'm sure you can't think of a single program or legislation proposed by, fought for and passed by Repubs when they occupied the White House and held the Majority in the House and the Senate that actually helped and improved the lives of most Americans equal to, say, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, The Affordable Care Act, The American Rescue Plan Act, The Inflation Reduction Act, etc etc etc that Dems accomplished when they controlled all of it either, right?
Don't feel bad about that. Native-born USA Citizens who lived in the USA all their lives can't come up with a single one either no matter how much time they've had to research it.

Posts: 7974Ok, I'll make it much easier for you.
Since neither you nor a team of MAGAs across the USA and Canada has ever been able to come up with one single program or legislation now revered and appreciated by the majority of the American people for its proven record for making America a better place to live, improve American lives, create historic numbers of jobs, raise the standard of living for most Americans and so on that was proposed by, fought for and passed by Repubs when they occupied the White House and held the Majority in the House and Senate even remotely equal to the dozen or more such programs and legislation proposed by, fought for and passed by Dems when they controlled all of it, I'll make it much, much easier for you by making it even simpler for even a deadbeat Repub to tackle.

Here it is, for you and all similar-minded MAGAs; Name the program or legislation proposed by, fought for and passed by your beloved Repub Nude Grinbitch that you have repeatedly claimed was key or in any way instrumental to Dem Bill Clinton and his 1993 and 1994 Dem-controlled House and Senate producing and presiding over the great recovery from the 12 previous disastrous Repub Administrans' results and directly into one of the greatest economic and jobs creating administrations in USA History..
Bear in mind these parameters; Dem Bill Clinton ran in 1992 on "reforming welfare as we know it", 3 years before Grinbitch had a thing to say about it. Clinton agreed with many of the things Grinbitch came up with because he came up with them first and ran for president on them. And whatever it was that Grinbitch wanted but Clinton didn't want, Grinbitch went to war over it, shut down the government, lost that war and Clinton's ideas prevailed.
Therefore, "welfare reform" isn't one of them.
The reduction in the Capital Gains Tax from 28% to 20%? Really? Comparing that to what on the list of Dem accomplishments? That didn't even happen until 1997/1998. By then the historic Dem Clinton Administration economic gains and success era was already 5 years old, having started a few months after his and his Dem Congress' Omnibus Budget Reconsiliation Act of 1993 was proposed by, fought for and passed by Dems without a single Repub vote! And, naturally, what followed a couple of years later were the budget surpluses that the next lazy, know nothing, do nothing deadbeat Repub could only think to give away to the wealthiest Americans in hopes of making them wealthier.
The Great Dem / Clinton jobs creation, boomtimes and budget surpluses of the 1990's obviously would have been even greater without Repub Nude Grinbitch and his fellow know nothing, do nothing deadbeat Repubs contributing nothing but dead weight, excess baggage, expensive and wasteful government shutdowns and an unnecessarily more detailed awareness of exactly what Bill Clinton's dick and balls were doing with consenting adult sexually aggressive females than any normal person needed or wanted.
Ok. Your turn. Tell us all about the wonderful programs and legislation proposed by, fought for and passed by Nude Grinbitch, your favorite go-to example for how and why Repub Congresses are really the secret behind consistent Dem economic success vs Repub economic disaster for the past 100 years.

Why Trump and the GOP Love the Poorly Educated:
https://m.youtube.com/shorts
Yes Trump loves the poorly educated, the educated and all American citizens. It is people like you and the democrats who think they are elitists and look down on hard working people. That is why the democrats lost the last election. That is why more blacks and more Hispanics voted for Trump because he does love the poorly educated. Democrats on the other hand think these poorly educated illegals are worthless and are perfect to hire cheaply to mow their grass, clean their houses and pick their fruit. You must be so proud!

Yes there were a lot of these type of people in oil industry but I suppose every industry has similar situations.

Posts: 2560Yes Canada. Tombs is a smart guy but he must watch too much MSNBC. He may be in the grip of Stockholm Syndrome. He doesn't realize most of the Good Old Time Democrats, like JFK and Bill Clinton in his second term (who was tempered and guided by a Republican Congress) aren't around any longer. The leftist progressives are intent on kicking all the rationale Democrats, like Larry Summers, Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema out of the party. Instead of taking economic guidance from wise men like Larry Summers and Robert Rubin, they listen to nut cases like Stephanie Kelton, Emmanuel Saez and Gabriel Zucman. The progressives want to make the USA like France or Canada, that is, more equal but a hell of a lot poorer.

I like geologists but I wouldn’t invest money with one of them.

Posts: 1960Electrostate vs. Petrostate: Intermittent Wind and Solar coming for gas's lunch?
As of the 21st of May, 2026, renewables (wind and solar) had more electricity generation, than gas globally, for the first month ever in April 2026. Together, they provided 22% of global electricity in April 2026, compared with 20% from gas.
For the first time, wind and solar generated more electricity than gas worldwide in April 2026, https://ember-energy.org/latest-upda...in-april-2026/
No doubt, it probably won't be a straight line trend, but just as renewables ate coal's lunch, it's coming for gas's lunch money too.

I also predicted economic disaster for Trump's presidency in between and this time around based on the R next to his name on the ballot considering that Party's consistent record for it over the previous decades.
So far I am 4 for 4 on my predictions for just the most recent Dem vs Repub results. And all the facts, data and record of actual results for the past 100 years certainly bear out my observations. Boy, would my face have been red if Obama and Biden hadn't earned their place on, say, historians' greatest presidents list, Obama in the top ten and Biden only ranking marginally behind one Repub president of the past 100-plus years. And it took that one Repub 2 terms of 8 years to follow through on FDR's Interstate Highway plan in order to marginally out-rank what Biden accomplished in just 4 years.
Oh, and imagine how much crow I would have to eat if Trump's economic and national security decisions hadn't wiped out millions of jobs in his first term, the first president to leave office with fewer jobs in the economy than when he started since fellow Repub Herbert Hoover, guess what, less than 100 years ago. Or if his GDP Growth and jobs creation numbers this time around were stellar instead of paltry and pathetic, especially considering the Trillions he has added to his debt and deficits. At this point it is truly doubtful his classic Repub policies and stewardship will have created a single net gain private-sector job by the last day of his full 8 years in office!
But my face isn't red. Because my predictions were right. And I don't expect to ever in my lifetime have to eat crow on predictions of economic disaster at the hands of any Repub so-called president vs far superior results for the Dem. It doesn't require MAGA Magic to get it right, you know. All anyone really needs to know is which letter is next to their names on the ballot.

Posts: 2560No Tooms, like I said, YOU won. You're the master of the spurious correlation. Dig deeper and most of your old, historical claims about Democrats and Republicans are bogus. I've described why in many posts over the last few years. I don't have time to do that anymore. You are right on some points. Republicans did contribute to the Great Depression and Bush's nation building was a fiasco. And I agree with many (but not all) of your criticisms of Trump. Nothing else comes to mind.
